The Women’s Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Force Mid is a classic basketball shoe updated for the 21st century. The lightweight, breathable upper and thick midsole provide a high level of comfort and performance, while keeping a hint of the classic AF1 lines. In addition, the shoes are also true to size. Yet while new technology has made the Ultra Force Mid lighter and more comfortable than its predecessors, some find it less durable that the classic AF1 models.
Fit
The AF1 Ultra Force Mid one-piece internal bootie with mesh overlay is extremely lightweight and breathable, providing gentle support for the foot. In addition, the mid-cut collar adds stability and support. The shoes are true to size in both length and width, and come in a full range of sizes, including half sizes. The fact that these are the lightest AF1 ever adds to the shoe’s comfort on the foot.
Upper
The shoe’s upper consists of an internal bootie with a mesh overlay covered by leather overlays that hint at the classic AF1 lines. The side panels have exposed mesh and leather Nike Swooshes, and the leather toe box is perforated for improved ventilation. Pull tabs on the heel and tongue make the shoe easy to slip on and off, and the mid-cut collar keeps the shoe snug on the foot and provides ankle support. Reflective details around the upper provide improved visibility in low light. Available colors include Pure Platinum, Black and Vachetta Tan.
Insole and Midsole
The AF1 Ultra Force Mid comes with a removable cushioned insole for everyday comfort. The massive midsole is cored out in key areas to make it especially lightweight and flexible, and encapsulated air provides maximum cushioning. The durable foam midsole also doubles as an outsole, further reducing the shoe’s overall weight. Nevertheless, these improvements have come with some sacrifice in midsole durability. At the toe and heel, rubber pods with classic star-shaped pattern add traction.
